BE A HERO

If you're wondering what to be for Halloween this year, BE A HERO.

Please take 5 minutes and register at http://www.marrow.org it's free, it's easy, and the donation process is similar to giving blood, it's no longer the painful process it once was.

There is an amazing man in Nashville waiting for a donor. His name is Joshua Ragsdale, and he is in desperate need of a bone marrow transplant. YOU could be the match. If not for Joshua, for someone. Give the gift of life!!!!

Perpetual Optimist

"If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you"

Feeling a bit pessimistic today.....
I will try not to be a total downer. There's a saying that all good things come to an end. Well, fortunately, all bad thing do, too. At least I hope so. Maybe we need to remind ourselves that we may need darkness to appreciate the light. Maybe it doesn't matter if the glass is half-empty, or half-full. It's what's in the glass that matters.

I'm going to try to be an optimist. I'm going to appreciate that there are better days to come, and draw inspiration from the pain and turn it into a song. You can't have a rainbow with out a little rain, after all.

Music and Lyrics

No, not the movie. I'm thinking about real writing, poetry versus lyrics. Is there a difference, other than the basic structure? Can poetry be sang into a melody that makes it song, or is poetry for high school literature books?
A dear friend presented these observations to me, and left my head spinning. Some of the things I scribble may be mere poetry, incapable of becoming a dauntless and haunting tune lodged in someone's mind....but isn't art based on freedom, with no boundaries? Isn't it up to the artist to decide what she produces, and the listener to choose whether or not they want to hear?
I think I'll keep my ideals. I'll write freely, sing freely, and hope someone hums the tune.

Where Do I Fit In

The music business is a funny place. Lots of folks wanna jump in and tell you how to arrange your music, how to make it marketable. Of course I want to make money. It would be great to make a living doing what comes naturally to me, but does that mean I should conform my art to the perception of others, or just sing the words the way I hear them, the way I feel them. I don't want to edit myself. I want to dance to my own music. I don't know where I fit in, but I refuse to be molded by the music industry. It will either love me or ignore me. I know it's a long shot, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Life's A Stage

Wake up, stretch up....bring out something the world needs. Dig within yourself, find something to share, we all have something to give. Kindness, music, hope, faith......find your thing and bring it to the play. Nothing is more beautiful than a blooming flower, so blossom....Life's a stage, steal the show......

Chemistry

Do you believe in coincidence? I think..... NO WAY. I believe in fate, I believe that everything happens for a reason. It's hard to imagine in a world so big, that two stories can intertwine at just the right moment with such chemistry. Without going into much detail, I use the example Of Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova..... If you've never seen them perform, or even heard their music, you have to check it out.....stunning. My point is, what if one factor was misplaced and their paths hadn't crossed? The world would have never known what magical harmony they posess. Just like a singer breaking away from a band, you love his voice, but it just isn't the same because the magic of chemistry is missing.

Where is my musical chemistry, will I find it, or will it find me?

Promise

I never could have imagined in my wildest of dreams, that one single day could hold so much signifigance. Ask and ye shall receive, my friends....so be careful what you ask for!

Without going into too much detail (wouldn't wanna spoil any surprises), I will say this: I believe my prayers were heard and are being answered, even if only by the promise of hope. I am going to press forward, continue with the plan, and I believe my dreams will be achieved. Can a single moment make all the difference? Absolutely. Something as simple as a post on facebook at a particular minute of the day can change a life....something as innocent as a smile at a stranger, even if only heard in the tone of a voice, can touch and enlighten one's spirit.

Pay it forward, there is promise in hope.

Thanks again to all those who have offered encouraging words, compliments and praise. And if by chance, Amy Price, you happen to read this, THANK YOU for everything!

EXCITED!

I can't begin to describe the excitement that comes with hearing my music over the internet, and seeing the number of plays climb. I awoke this morning to find I had reached #1 on Reverbnation's local artist chart....WONDERFUL feeling.....and I have also climbed up more than 20,000 slots on the global chart....what an amazing feeling!!!!!

If you are one of my supporters, I want to personally thank you for taking the time to listen and joining the mailing list. I have hopes of adding harmony to the current recordings in the near future, and raise enough money to get in a real studio and make a full legnth CD. God willing, I can see my dreams fulfilled.....

join me on Myspace if you want to read any lyrics......

Thanks again......and remember: If you aren't chasing dreams, you may be standing still!
